British Sign Language (BSL) Course - Introduction

With fun and exploration, find out whether you are all fingers and thumbs, or refresh previous training, as we embark on an exciting journey to learn the basics of BSL, a vibrant and expressive language used by the Deaf community in the United Kingdom. Whether you're interested in enhancing your communication skills, connecting with Deaf individuals, or simply exploring a new language and culture, this course is designed to provide you with a solid foundation in BSL. Should you realise you have a thirst to learn more, we can signpost you onto further courses.

Throughout this course, you will start to learn essential vocabulary, grammar rules, and basic conversational phrases, equipping you with the tools to engage in meaningful interactions with Deaf individuals and within the wider Deaf community. From fingerspelling to simple greetings and everyday expressions, you'll gradually build confidence in expressing yourself using BSL.

Family Sign Language Course

This is specifically tailored for families with Deaf children or any family interested in fostering communication and connection through sign language i.e. children who cannot verbally speak. This course offers a unique opportunity for families to learn BSL together, strengthening bonds and fostering inclusivity within the family unit.

Through interactive lessons, games, and activities, families will learn practical signs for daily routines, emotions, and activities, empowering both children and adults to communicate effectively and express love and support in a visual and accessible way. Depending on your family's needs, you can enhance communication with other means, such as photos of locations you visit and more; all of which we can support you with. Join us on this enriching journey as we learn, connect, and celebrate the beauty of sign language and visual communication together, to empower you as a whole and reduce frustration.
