Connected & Therapeutic Parenting

Connected & Therapeutic Parenting Workshop

Join our Connected & Therapeutic Parenting Workshop, where we embark on a journey to understand and cultivate compassionate and neuroscience based parenting strategies for children who have experienced overwhelm (sensory or other), trauma and/or exhibit dysregulated behaviours*. Parenting a child with a history of trauma or dysregulation can present unique challenges, often requiring specialised approaches to nurture healing and growth within yourself and the family system. It is important to give space and understanding for our own unique situations and path to where we find ourselves.

In this workshop, we'll explore the principles of therapeutic and connective parenting, emphasising empathy, acceptance, connection, and understanding as foundational pillars, and considering how this can be delivered in a child-teen friendly manner. We will delve into the neurobiological effects of trauma, stress or overwhelm on children's developing brains, shedding light on how past experiences can manifest in dysregulated behaviours and emotional struggles. By gaining insights into the underlying causes of dysregulation, it can assist in giving space for strategies and respond with sensitivity and support, for ourselves as well as each other.

Throughout our time together, we aim to equip parents, (& kin-ship carers, grandparents or anyone who finds themselves in the role of looking after children - we will use 'parents' in this writing), with practical tools and techniques to co-regulate with their children, promoting emotional regulation and fostering secure attachments. From creating safe and predictable environments to implementing trauma-informed strategies, we aim to empower adults to navigate therapeutic and connective guidance and 'parenting' with confidence and compassion.

Ultimately, this workshop is a journey of growth and transformation, where parents can find solidarity, support, and practical guidance in their quest to provide nurturing and healing environments for their children. Together, we'll explore the power of therapeutic parenting in building resilience, fostering connection, and nurturing the potential for healing and thriving.

*The reasons for these behaviours can be vast, and we might never know the answer. What is important is a no blame/shame approach, a safe space to regulate ourselves as parents, and explore what will be most helpful.

This is an 8 week programme of 2.5 hours with a printed workbook and resources signposted to and shared. Total cost: £275
